More on CIA & Chile
Last May I wrote a post about the events leading to Pinochet's coup in Chile.
Looking more around, I realized that maybe the article on Front Page Magazine I referred to depicted american intervention in a somewhat too benign light.
So, here there are some original documents on the same issue.
The blog No Pasaran!, however, has a collection of links and facts on this story.
The emerging picture is that Chile was by no means a heavenly place, where Allende was deeply loved by a large majority of the population.
In fact, many did not like him, and liked even less the far left. Even if CIA had a determinant role in overthrowing Allende, they exploited a pre-existing unstable situation.
